Mine Rødder - og med flere slægtsgrene

Vor familie gennem tiden

Min fars historie:

Axel Erhard Hansen.
Denne datter døde dog kun to dage gammel.

History of my father:

Axel Erhard Hansen. Born in Gedesby on 22/6 1916 as the 4th child of Hans Peter Hansen and wife Selma Marie Frederikke (former) Jensen. Was baptized in Maglebrände church on 28/1 1917 by parish priest E. Bondesen. Vidnes were working man Niels Peter Christian Petersen and his wife Anna Maria Kirstine, Stubbekøbing and working man Aage Møller and his wife Camilla.
He grew up in the countryside and became friends with the cows. Wouldn't work with anything else. When the farm he worked on wanted to get rid of their cows and offered him a tractor so he could continue in the fields, the answer was always the same: "No, I'm leaving". Then it was about finding a new, larger farm that still had cows, so that his beloved work could continue. He didn't want to drive a tractor, nor did he drive a car. I could well suspect that in his younger days he had been exposed to or perhaps just a spectator an accident with a motor vehicle when it was so far away from him. Even if he went to borrow a vehicle on the farm, possibly to drive firewood home from the forest, it was with a horse-drawn cart. Strange enough, since several of his brothers had cars. There was no military service, he was discarded because of flat feet. The failing cow population was also to blame for us having to move regularly and it therefore became quite a few changing schools for us children.
He must have known my mother for a long time. She was just to begin with, married to someone else. And my father also first had a daughter with a woman about four years before I was born. However, this daughter died at only two days old. After this he apparently ended the relationship with her. He is said to have stated that: "I don't want to have anything to do with a bitch who can't figure out how to give birth to viable young". But she had already proven that in the past, as she had given her former husband several of chhildren. And she also became godmother to my next half-elder sister about 2 years later. Therefore, my father and mother must have known each other. And when I was born, my mother was in divorce negotiations with her first husband and at the same time I was too big for the christening gown, which is why I wasn't baptized until more than six months after my birth. My parents had been married there the day before. And after me, another 4 children came, so it was soon a big family. But even though the money was small, we had clothes on our bodies and even a TV could be afforded quite early on.
The work with the cows also became his death. In December 1969, a silo with fodder fell on him and he suffocated under 20 tons of beet waste. He was cremated and the urn placed in Nakskov cemetery next to his parents on december 11. 1969.
The picture just above this button is from my father's parents' silver wedding anniversary in Stokkemarke on 6 November 1935. My father is sitting in the front row with a boy (his little brother, Niels) standing in front of him. The picture also in another place, where you can hold the mouse over some of the faces and see who it is. If you click on the face in question, you will be taken to the person's page.
